Play-doh, crayons, glue, playtime…this all sounds happy and fun right? Well for parents this might invoke fear and anxiety.
Letting go of your little one entering kindergarten can be very challenging. Trust me I know the feeling.
I was like most parents the day I dropped off my oldest for kindergarten. You can tell yourself that you are fine or that you are being silly but let me be real….it is so HARD! Think about it, you have had 1,825 days or more with your child and now you have to leave them for 8 hours. Even if they have been going to daycare, parent’s day out or a babysitter… kindergarten is different.
It IS a big deal!
Trust me, please trust me you will be fine and more importantly your child will too. Most likely they will be having fun and exploring in less than 2 minutes after you leave.
Remember this is harder on YOU than your child.
As a former kindergarten teacher I can tell you with a 100% certainty your child will be fine! Yes there is an adjustment period but that doesn’t mean they are aren’t going to love kindergarten. Soon your child will be engaged in puzzles, blocks, shapes, letters and using their imagination through play.
